Peanut Butter Shortbread


Peanut Butter Shortbread ... Rich and delicious shortbread with peanut butter and chopped peanuts. They are pretty simple to make. Just mix ingredients with your fingers, press in a pan and bake till lightly brown. Cut in wedges & enjoy this lovely treat!

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup castor sugar
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Almond Cake Rusk


Almond Cake Rusk ... Cake rusk is a double baked cake made from oil / butter, sugar, eggs, plain flour, baking powder and flavorings. They are made by first baking a cake, slicing into bars / strips and then drying in the oven on low heat until crispy. These delicious crispy bars with a touch of almonds are perfect for breakfast or as a teatime snack with a cup of tea or coffee.

Cherry Squares



Cherry Squares ... Delicious buttery crust with cherries & almonds filling! I loved the beautiful pink color of the cherries in it. The crust was just perfect and the filling was little gooey.

Raisins and Coconut Slice


Raisins and Coconut Slice ... A tasty slice with a coconut base and raisins topping. It is so easy to make and uses basic ingredients. The original recipe was with sultana. I halved the recipe, only used 1/3 of the raisins, otherwise I just followed the recipe.

Cake Rusk


A delicious double baked cake bar for breakfast or teatime.



Cake Rusk

Recipe by Shireen Anwer ( Masala TV )

Makes : 24 slices
Ingredients :
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp.  baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup castor sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp.  vanilla essence
  • Few drops yellow food color, optional 
Method :
    • Preheat oven to 180 C. Grease & line a 10" x 7" baking pan or 7" square pan.
    • Sieve flour and baking powder, keep aside.
    • Beat butter and sugar in a bowl till light and fluffy.
    • Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    • Beat in vanilla essence and color.
    • Fold in flour mix until well combined.
    • Pour in the prepared pan. Bake at 180 C for 20 - 25 minutes until cooked when tested with a skewer.
    • Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. 
    • Now cut the cake in the center and then cut each half of cake in ( 1" ) thick slices.
    • Arrange slices on lined baking tray and bake at 150 C for 15 minutes.
    • Turn the side of cake slices and bake again for 15 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
    • Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely, then store them in an air-tight container.
