Guest Post : Memon Kababs from Henna of My Ninja Naan

Today's guest post comes from a wonderful blogger friend, Henna of My Ninja Naan. She is one of the lovely people I've come across through blogging who constantly encourage me with their sweet & wonderful comments. She has actually tried some of my recipes and has given me positive feedback. Please visit her site, if you haven't checked out yet. I'm sure you will love her wonderful site which is full of mouthwatering recipes and tempting pictures.

Henna is sharing her Mom's recipe with us that she makes on special occasions. Let's have a look at her recipe!

***********************************************

Hello Friends! My name is Henna and I am the “ ninja ” behind My Ninja Naan . I “ met ” Ambreen 2 years ago when I stumbled upon her fabulous blog . I became obsessed with her authentic and tried and true recipes. Soon after discovering her blog, many of Ambreen’s recipes began making appearances in our home. In fact, I had so much success with her recipes that whenever I would try a new creation, my husband would ask, “Is this something you learned from your friend Ambreen?” Sometimes I would jokingly mention to Ambreen that she had become famous in my home ( seriously though, she is! ).

Guest Post : Beef Shami Kebab ( Minced Beef Meat Cutlets ) from Lubna of Yummy Food

Eid-ul-Adha ( Feast of the Sacrifice ) is celebrated by Muslims all over the world to commemorate the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim ( A. S. ) to obey Allah's ( God's ) command to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail ( A. S. ), before Allah intervened and provide Hazrat Ibrahim ( A. S. ) with a ram to sacrifice instead. Now Muslims sacrifice an animal ( usually a goat , sheep , cow or camel ) every year during Eid-ul-Adha to keep fresh the memory of that great sacrifice. The meat from the sacrifice is divided into three equal parts; one third for the family, one third for relatives / friends / neighbours and one third for the poor and needy.

While Eid is just around the corner, I thought to invite few bloggers friends to guest post here and share their favorite recipes for Eid-ul-Adha.

Today, I'm excited to be featuring a guest post from Lubna of " Yummy Food ". Most of you would be already familiar with her blog which is full of delicious recipes and stunning pictures. When I requested her to do a guest post for my blog with some traditional Eid-ul-Adha recipe, she promptly responded with this yummy recipe. Let's see what she has to share with us!

Palak kay Pakoray ( Spinach Fritters)

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar that takes place every year. During this month, Muslims around the world fast from dawn to sunset. They wake up early, before the sunrise to have their meal ( called Suhur, Sehri in Urdu ). It consists of the same meal eaten everyday like meat curries, kababs, vegetables dishes or omelet with paratha / chapati; followed by tea to end the meal. After Sehri, morning prayers are offered and the holy Quran is read. Then starts the routine life, time to go for work or study.

When the sun sets, the fast ends. At fast-breaking meal ( known as Iftar ), Muslims break their fast together with their family. In Pakistan, Muslims break their fasts with dates, tea/ drinks, snacks ( samosas or pakoras ) & chaats or dahi bhalay. Then evening prayers are offered & after this, the main meal is served.

For my family, Iftar is not complete without pakoras. It is the most popular Iftar item among Pakistanis. Who doesn't like crispy and crunchy pakoras. Serve them as snacks or appetizers. It is made by adding spinach, onion & potato in a batter of gram flour and then deep-frying them. Although the word deep fried does not sound healthy, but at least the addition of Spinach makes them  healthy. Few dates, a glass of Sharbat Rooh Afza & these delicious pakoras ... that's what I like to have at Iftar :)
