Crispy Potato Sticks

Crispy Potato Sticks ... Very thin strips of potatoes deep-fried in hot oil till golden & crispy. Enjoy right away or store them once they are cooled. A quick & easy snack .... you won't be able to stop eating these :)

Crispy Potato Sticks

Ingredients :
  • Potatoes, as required
  • Oil, for deep-frying
  • Salt, to taste
  • Chaat Masala, to taste
Method :
  • Wash and peel the potatoes.
  • Using a grater, grate the potatoes ( You can do this quickly in a food processor with a grater disc ).
  • Soak in water for 15 minutes.
  • Drain & spread the potato gratings on a clean dry cloth.
  • Let them slightly dry to remove excess water.
  • Heat oil in a wok for deep frying.
  • Add a small batch of potato gratings into the hot oil and fry, stirring frequently so they do not stick together.
  • Fry till they turns golden & becomes crispy.
  • Turn the heat to low, remove from oil and drain on a paper towel.
  • Before frying the next batch, increase heat to High.
  • When all the gratings are fried, sprinkle salt & chaat masala & gently toss to coat well.

Note :
    • You can also do this using a sharp knife. First cut them into thin ( about 1/8th inch ) slices. Stack the slices and cut again into thin lengthwise strips, much thinner than fries. Repeat the same process as above. They will be slightly soft, not as crispy like the grated ones.
