Arvi Fry ( Fried Colocasia ) and Liebster Blog Award

Arvi Fry ( Fried Colocasia ) ... Colocasia slices fried with onion & green chillies, simple & easy side dish with mild spices.

Arvi Fry ( Fried Colocasia )
******************************

* Serves : 6- 8

Ingredients :
  • 1 kg. Arvi / Colocasia
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp. white cumin seeds
  • 1/8 tsp. nigella seeds ( kalonji )
  • 1/8 tsp. carom seeds ( ajwaiin )
  • 1 tbsp. salt ( adjust according to taste )
  • 4 - 5 green chillies, chopped
  • Lemon juice
Method :
  • Wash arvi / colocasia. Let it dry completely.
  • Now peel and slice arvi in thin slices, lengthwise.
  • Heat oil in a wok and fry the sliced onion till light golden brown.
  • Add cumin seeds, nigella seeds & carom seeds.
  • Fry for few seconds, then add arvi, salt & green chillies. 
  • Stir-fry for 2 -3 minutes, then reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally until arvi is tender.
  • Transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle lemon juice on top and serve with Roti / Chapati.

  22. Hi Ambreen, I didn't know what Arvi is. Had to search in Google... only to find out that, it is something I occasionally cook and like very much. Good to have learned its name and yet another new, simple yet promising dish with that. Looks very inviting.
