Plain Cake ... Simple & easy cake recipe. Serve plain, dusted with icing sugar or with whipped cream & fresh fruits. Enjoy!!!
Plain Cake
************
Serves : 6
Ingredients :
- 1/2 cup butter , softened
- 1/2 cup castor sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla essence
- Few drops of yellow food color, optional
Method :
- Preheat the oven to 180 C. Grease and line a 10" x 7" ( or 8" square ) baking tin with greaseproof paper.
- Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl till light and fluffy.
- Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add essence and color. Beat well.
- Sift in flour and baking powder, fold gently until well mixed.
- Pour into the prepared tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake.
- Remove and allow to cool for a few minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve.

ReplyDeleteI am always buying a favourite Madeira cake to put into fruit creams and just to eat in general - these recipe has said goodbye to that! I can just imagine it with amazing chocolate buttercream in the middle... I guess it takes away the plain ;)
