Plain Cake

Plain Cake ... Simple & easy cake recipe. Serve plain, dusted with icing sugar or with whipped cream & fresh fruits. Enjoy!!!

Plain Cake
************
Serves : 6

Ingredients :
  • 1/2 cup butter , softened
  • 1/2 cup castor sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp.  baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp.  vanilla essence
  • Few drops of yellow food color, optional
Method : 
  • Preheat the oven to 180 C. Grease and line a 10"  x  7" ( or 8" square ) baking tin with greaseproof paper.
  • Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl till light and fluffy.
  • Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add essence and color. Beat well.
  • Sift in flour and baking powder, fold gently until well mixed.
  • Pour into the prepared tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake. 
  • Remove and allow to cool for a few minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely. 
  • Slice and serve.

  10. I am always buying a favourite Madeira cake to put into fruit creams and just to eat in general - these recipe has said goodbye to that! I can just imagine it with amazing chocolate buttercream in the middle... I guess it takes away the plain ;)
