Shimla Mirch Qeema / Capsicum with Minced Meat


Shimla Mirch Qeema / Capsicum with Minced Meat ... A tasty dish made with minced meat & capsicum. You can reduce the amount of capsicum in the recipe, but we like it this way :)

Shimla Mirch Qeema / Capsicum with Minced Meat

* Prep. Time : 15 minutes

* Cook Time :  30 - 40 minutes

* Serves : 4 - 6

Ingredients :
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 1 black / large cardamom
  • 3 - 4 cloves
  • 5 - 6 whole black peppers
  • 2" cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 500 gm. Minced Meat ( Qeema )
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. red chillies powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped / sliced
  • 500 gm. capsicum / bell peppers ( Shimla mirch ), sliced
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. fresh coriander leaves, chopped 
 Method :
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add sliced onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add cumin seeds, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon & ginger garlic paste and stir well.
  • Add in minced meat and saute for few minutes until mince changes its color.
  • Add tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder & salt and mix well.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat till the water dries out and the oil leaves the sides of the pan.
  • Add in the capsicum & green chillies; mix and cook, covered, on a very low heat for 10 minutes until capsicum is slightly soft.
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve hot with plain rice or Chappati.

  6. Minced meat has always been my favourite. Your recipe with capsicum looks marvelous and inviting. Does not matter if you have it with rice or rotis. It will make your meal awesome.
