Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookie ... a drop cookie that originated in the United States and features chocolate chips as its distinguishing ingredient. The traditional recipe combines a dough composed of butter and both brown and white sugar with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Variations include recipes with other types of chocolate or additional ingredients, such as nuts or oatmeal.


Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recipe adapted from VeryBestBaking
* Prep. Time : 20 minutes
* Cook Time : 9 - 11 minutes
* Makes : 60 cookies

Ingredients : 


  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour ( I had to increase the flour to about 2 3/4 to 3 cups as the cookies were turning out flat )
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt  ( I used only 1/4 tsp. )
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels ( I used only 1 1/2 cups )
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (  I used only 1/2 cup almonds )
    Method :
    • Preheat oven to 375° F.
    • Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. 
    • Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. 
    • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 
    • Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. 
    • Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
    • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. 
    • Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
    Note: 
    • I baked a test cookie before baking an entire batch. As it was spreading too much ( the cookie was very thin & flat ), I had to increase the flour. Just start adding & mixing little by little more flour into the dough.
    • Refrigerate the dough until well-chilled.
    • Also, I slightly under baked these; just until the cookies were golden around the edges and soft in the center.
