Serves : 4

Ingredients :
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp.   cumin seeds
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 3 cloves
  • 6 whole black peppers
  • 2" cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp.   ginger garlic paste
  • 500 gm.  mutton or beef mince ( Qeema )
  • 1/4 tsp.  turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tsp.  red chillies powder
  • 1 tsp.  salt or to taste
  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup green peas ( Matar )
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp.  garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp.  fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Method :
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add sliced onion and fry till light brown.
  • Add cumin seeds, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon and ginger garlic paste; stir-fry for a minute.
  • Add mince and stir-fry for few minutes until it begins to brown.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and tomatoes; mix well.
  • Add 1/2 cup water ( if required, as the tomatoes will release their liquid during cooking ); bring to a boil.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat till the water dries out and the oil leaves the sides of the pan ( about 25 - 30 minutes ).
  • Add the green peas, green chillies and 1/2 cup water; mix and cook, covered, on low heat until peas are cooked and little water or gravy is left.
  • Sprinkle garam masala and coriander leaves. Serve hot with Naan or Chappati.
