Hab-el-hal ( Cardamom Cookies )


Hab-el-hal or Cardamom Cookies ... A recipe from Palestine. They are best served with coffee, tea or milk. These cookies are delicious and the flavor is wonderful!


Hab-el-hal or Cardamom Cookies

* Prep. Time : 20 minutes
* Cook Time : 10 - 12 minutes
* Makes : 42 cookies, depending on the size

    Ingredients :

    • 1/2 cup softened butter
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 3/4 cups flour
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 tsp. cardamom
    • 1/8 cup milk 
    Method :
    • Preheat oven to 180 C. 
    • Cream together egg, sugar, and butter in a medium mixing bowl.
    • Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cardamom. 
    • Slowly add to egg & butter mixture and mix well. 
    • Add milk, if required to form dough.
    • Roll out dough on lightly floured surface. You want the dough to be about 1/8 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to make shapes.
    • Place on a lined cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
